Today is a very special day for us, we are celebrating being married for 10 years! It is hard to believe that it has been that long. It seems just like yesterday that we were preparing for our own wedding.
We had a beautiful outdoor ceremony at Starved Rock. The reception was indoors in front of the grand fireplace. If the lodge looks a little familiar, it is because the man who designed Pere Marquette Lodge also designed Starved Rock Lodge. If you are looking for a little get-a-way, we highly recommend checking out this state park. It is about a 3.5 hour drive from Alton. There are some great hiking trails, and beautiful waterfalls!
Matthiessen State Park, which is only about a mile from Starved Rock, has some great trails. You can see about 5 waterfalls within a two hour hike. If anyone has been to our old studio, a lot of the waterfall pictures were from Matthiessen. The whole area is great for families!
